In front of a boisterous crowd in the Williams Gym, Sweet Briar defeated conference foe Eastern Mennonite University 21-25, 33-31, 19-25, 25-21 and 15-9, Wednesday evening. It was the 2nd time in five days that the Vixens won a conference match in a deciding fifth game .
The Vixens would need standout performances from several players and key contributions of many to complete the takedown of the Royals. After taking an early lead in game one, Sweet Briar relinquished a late lead and fell behind 1-0 in the early going. The second game saw a see-saw battle that seemed like it might go on ad finitum. After facing several game points and then watching Eastern Mennonite battle against several game points of their own, Sweet Briar finally broke through, taking the game 33-31. After trading wins in Games 3 and 4, the Vixens decisively took Game 5, 15-9.
