Culley, Wandling wrap-up day one at ITA Southeast Regional Championships

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Juniors Lexi Culley and Emily Wandling competed in a trio of matches at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by Mary Washington, on Saturday.

Culley (Louisa, Va.) and Wandling (Mechanicsville, Va.) teamed in Flight B of doubles play, meeting Erin Cole and Grace Connell of Catholic in the round of 16. An 8-3 loss to Cole and Connell, pushed Culley and Wandling to a consolation bracket meeting with Morgan Blount and Rachel Neeleman of Southern Virginia on Sunday morning.

Singles play proved a pair of tough draws with Wandling paired with the Flight A No. 8 seed and Culley with the Flight C No. 2 seed.

Wandling fell 6-1, 6-0 to Dhanya Asokumar of Johns Hopkins in the round of 64, while in Flight C, Culley fell 8-2 to Megan Waskiewicz of Stevenson in the round of 16.

Wandling is slated to meet Lexi Epstein of Dickinson in the consolation round of 32, while Culley is scheduled to play Southern Virginia's Blount.

Day two of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
