Tennis Takes On The WildCat Invite To Open Fall Season

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Sweet Briar College tennis team opened the 2017-18 season at the Randolph College WildCat Invite on Saturday afternoon. The tournament featured the host WildCats, Bridgewater College, Lynchburg College and the Vixens.

Emily Wandling represented Sweet Briar in the Flight 1 tournament. She faced off against Randolph's Keyu Jin, a Second Team All-ODAC honoree last year. Wandling fought hard all match but fell 2-6, 4-6. In the consolation match, Wandling battled with Bridgewater's Jamiah Lewis, who won the match 6-2, 3-6 (8-0).

Other good showings for SBC came from senior Samantha Yew in Flight 3 and first-year GraceAnne Piner in Flight 4. 

Sweet Briar will wrap up its fall season next weekend at the ITA Regional Championships which is hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
