Kear notches pair of top-15 finishes; Vixens finish tied for eighth in ODAC

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sophomore Dharma Kear recorded a pair of top-15 finishes on Sunday at the ODAC Swimming Championship inside of the Greensboro Aquatic Center, while the Vixens finished tied for eighth overall in the team standings.

Kear's (Virginia Beach, Va.) day included a 14th-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a personal best time of 22:38.19.

A second top-15 showing for Kear came in the evening session when she finished 13th overall with a time of 2:51.91 in the 200-yard butterfly. 

In the final event of the three-day meet, Sweet Briar outraced Virginia Wesleyan in the 400-yard freestyle relay to finish ninth overall in the event. Sweet Briar's relay team of sophomore Nora Florio (Lynchburg, Va.), sophomore Sarah Ahson (Manassas, Va.), sophomore Theresa Carriveau (West Chicago, Ill.) and first-year Taylor Shaw (Virginia Beach, Va.) recorded a final time of 4:38.68.

Earlier on day three, first-year Lauren Jones (Danville, Va.) swam to 31st in the 100-yard freestyle preliminaries, posting a personal-best time of 1:10.58.

The prelims for the 200-yard breaststroke saw Florio post a personal-best 3:46.15 to finish 22nd overall.

As a team, the Vixens finished with 103 points, tying Ferrum for eighth in the overall standings and finishing ahead of Virginia Wesleyan, Guilford and Greensboro.
