Season, personal bests fall as Vixens swim against Falcons, Braves

MISENHEIMER, N.C. — Multiple Sweet Briar swimmers posted season and personal-best times in Saturday's tri-meet hosted by Pfeiffer University at Merner Pool against the Falcons and the UNC-Pembroke Braves.

Sweet Briar opened the tri-meet in the 1000-yard freestyle, which saw sophomore Dharma Kear (Virginia Beach, Va.) record a season-best time of 14:12.86 in a third-place finish, while sophomore Nora Florio (Lynchburg, Va.) touched fifth with a personal-best 16:28.05.

First-year Lauren Jones (Danville, Va.) swam to a personal-best 2:41.29 in the 200-freestyle, finishing seventh in the 200-freestyle.

Florio added a second personal-best as she finished seventh with a 35.44 in the 50-freestyle, while first-year Taylor Shaw (Virginia Beach, Va.) touched eighth at 39.47.

First-year Natalie Waldo's (Woodstock, Ga.) season-best 2:47.77 in the 200-individual medley was good for fourth in the field, while Kear was sixth at 2:55.39.

Waldo added a personal-best in the next event, finishing fourth with a time of 1:19.99 in the 100-butterfly.

Jones and Shaw finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 100-freestyle as Jones finished at 1:14.11 and Shaw touched at 1:35.19.

The 500-freestyle saw Jones finish sixth at 7:04.32, a personal-best in the event.

In the Vixens' final event of the day, Waldo was seventh with a personal-best 3:20.64 in the 200-breaststroke.

Pfeiffer won the tri-meet, topping both UNC Pembroke and Sweet Briar as UNC Pembroke topped Sweet Briar on points.

Sweet Briar hosts its first home meet of the season on Friday, November 9, as Guilford visits the Vixens for a 5 p.m. meet.
