ROANOKE, Va. — The Sweet Briar swim team fell in a pair of duals at Hollins' Northen Swim Center, with Hollins topping the Vixens 106-45 as Roanoke picked up a 164-25 win over Sweet Briar.
Sweet Briar opened the meet, swimming to a 5:17.48 in the 400-yard medley relay. The Vixens' relay squad was comprised of first-year Lauren Jones (Danville, Va.), sophomore Theresa Carriveau (West Chicago, Ill.), sophomore Dharma Kear (Virginia Beach, Va.) and first-year Natalie Waldo (Woodstock, Ga.).
Jones was the first Vixen to swim individually as she finished sixth with a 2:48.08 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Kear was fourth in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:45.61, while Waldo finished fifth with a time of 2:51.25 in the event. Kear's time was the best of her collegiate career, topping her previous best time of 2:49.48 at the Converse Womens Invitational in 2017.
First-year Taylor Shaw (Virginia Beach, Va.) was eighth in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:28.03.
Waldo's 100-yard backstroke time of 1:16.78 was good for third in the event, while Lauren Jones and Shaw finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle. Lauren Jones' 500-yard freestyle time was 7:14.00, while Shaw clocked in at 10:13.87.
Kear and first-year Channing Entrican were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke. Kear touched the wall at 1:30.81, while Entrican finished with a time of 1:44.32.
Sweet Briar dips out of conference on Saturday, November 3, for a tri-meet in Misenheimer, N.C., against Pfieffer and UNC Pembroke at 1 p.m.
