For the second week in a row, the Sweet Briar College swim team was in the pool for a conference dual meet. SBC spent Friday evening at Bridgewater College, where the host Eagles out swam the Vixens to a 110-67 team victory.
Coming off Old Dominion Athletic Conference Honor Roll recognition last week, first-year Taylor Allen continued to lead SBC with two individual first-place finishes. The first top showing came in the 200-meter backstroke, where Allen outpaced the competition by over nine seconds and touched in a time of 2:40.20.
Two events later, the Richmond, Va. native outpaced teammate Mary Stuart McDevitt to win the 200 breaststroke. Allen won the race in a time of 3:07.71.
McDevitt also took second in the 100 IM, in a time of 1:16.45, which is six second off her season best. The senior's best time of 1:10.51 currently ranks sixth in all of the ODAC.
First-year Brianna Garcia had a solid showing with two first-place finishes of her own. The Kyle, Texas native won both the 200-meter fly and the 400 free in times of 3:44.69 and 6:37.63, respectively.
The Vixens will return to the pool next Friday night when they travel to Ferrum College for a dual meet beginning at 6 p.m.
