GREENSBORO, N.C.- Fresh off its winter training trip, the Sweet Briar College swim team took to the pool Saturday afternoon and came away victorious in both duals. They took down the host, Greensboro College, 97-53, and UNC-Pembroke, 96-68.

The day started for SBC with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Caroline Thomas, Claire Zak, Taylor Allen, and Mary McDevitt stopped the clock at 2:12.62.

Allen, a first-year from Richmond, went on to win two individual races, beginning with the 200 IM. She edged out UNC-Pembroke's Gina Zhang by less than four-tenths of a second, touching at 2:25.65. That is Allen's top time in the event this year and ranks 18th this season in the ODAC.

The second individual victory for Allen came in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in a time of 2:57.80. Not to be outdone, Zak came in just behind her teammate to claim second place in the event with a time of 3:09.47.

McDevitt snagged an individual first place with her victory in the 100 free. The senior won the race by over two seconds over Greensboro's Meg Sutton, touching the wall at 1:00.06.

Following the relay victory, Thomas finished second place in the 200 back. Notching her best time of the season in the event, the sophomore finished in a time of 2:50.48.

First-year Brianna Garcia was also able to register a second-place finish and a season's best time in the 500 free. The Kyle, Texas native stopped the clock at 7:17.36.

The Vixens will continue their season next weekend, as they'll travel to Bridgewater College for a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 20, beginning at 6 p.m.
