SWEET BRIAR, Va. - It was Senior Day for the Sweet Briar College swim team as they hosted Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon. The Vixens sent lone senior Mary Stuart McDevitt out on a high note as they downed The Pride, 91-66.

During the first break of the meet, McDevitt and her parents were recognized for their dedication and commitment to both the swim program and Sweet Briar as a whole.

The action in the water was just as impressive, with the Vixens scoring key victories down the stretch to secure the dual victory. The score was close with two events remaining, but a one-two showing from the Vixens in the 100-meter breaststroke secured the victory. Claire Zak won the race in a time of 1:35.25 and first-year Brianna Garcia out-touched her Greensboro competition to secure second place in a time of 1:47.06.

Sweet Briar's day started with the team of Caroline Thomas, Zak, Taylor Allen, and McDevitt winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:27.97.

Just a few events later, Allen continued her impressive first-year campaign with a first-place showing the 50 free. The Richmond, Va. native touched in a time of 29.61. Allen followed that up with another victory, this time in the 100 back, stopping the clock at 1:16.57.

The Vixens will now enjoy an extended holiday break and will next be in action on Saturday, Jan. 14 when they travel to Greensboro to battle The Pride and UNC-Pembroke.
