Sweet Swimming Takes On The ODAC Relays

LEXINGTON, Va.- The Sweet Briar College swim team spent Saturday at Washington & Lee University for the 2016 ODAC Relays.

The annual meet consists of 10 relay events swam by the nine schools that sponsor women's swimming in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Relays are often viewed as the kick-off to the season and set the table for the ODAC Championships in February.

The host Generals entered the season as clear favorites to win their tenth-straight conference title and had a great showing on Saturday, winning the title with 487 pts.

The best showings of the day for the Vixens came in the 3x50-yard backstroke relay, where they finished ninth. The A-team trio of Brianna Garcia, Mary Stuart McDevitt, and Taylor Allen touched in at 1:45.03.

SBC's 200-free team of Allen, McDevitt, Claire Zak, and Garcia also took ninth in a time of 2:03.39.

Next Saturday, the Vixens will travel to Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. for a 1 p.m. dual-match start. Hampden-Sydney College will also be attending to compete against Gallaudet's men's team.
