Swimming Concludes Women's College Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Women's College Invitational hosted by Converse College came to a close on Saturday with a full day of swimming.

The invitational featured three Division II scholarship schools and Sweet Briar represented one of two Division III schools at the meet.

The Vixens had more good showings on day two, following a solid first night from senior Mary Stuart McDevitt and first-year Taylor Allen.

McDevitt got day two started with a tenth-place finish in the 100 IM, touching at 1:10.51. The Yulee, Fla. native later took third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.01.

Not be outdone, Allen took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with time of 1:06.16. Later in the 100 free, the Richmond, Va. native finished sixth with a time of 1:00.03.

The Vixens finished fifth overall in the invitational with 126 team points, just behind fourth-place ODAC rival Hollins University.

Next weekend the Vixen swim team will head to Washington & Lee University for the annual ODAC Relays. The races get underway at noon on Saturday, Oct. 15.
