Vixens drop decision on road to Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. — Senior goalkeeper Caroline Thomas made 12 saves as the Vixens fell 8-0 to Ferrum at Adams Stadium on Friday evening.

The Panthers scored the eventual game winner in the eighth minute when Casey Raggett assisted on an Alexis McCargo goal.

"I'm extremely proud of how well we stuck to our game plan in the first half," said head coach Jason Capps. "We were disciplined and organized. We simply made two mistakes that they punished us for so that's a credit to their girls."

Thomas (Appomattox, Va.) tallied four saves in the opening half, before stopping eight in the second period.

"We are battling injuries with a squad that's already severely undermanned so I'm really proud of the fight and determination we continue to show," Capps added. "Eventually the clock catches up to you when you're in our situation, but we are improving every day and the first half showed that today. I can't wait to keep building with this group."

Sweet Briar will wrap-up the non-conference schedule on Sunday with a home match scheduled for 3:30 p.m. against Notre Dame (Md.) at Babcock Field.
