Lawson nets third-straight hat trick on road at William Peace

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — For the third time in as many games, junior Victoria Lawson tallied a hat trick, as the Vixens fell 19-4 to host William Peace at Ting Park.

William Peace (2-0) ran out to a 13-0 lead before Lawson (Shipman, Va.) netted the Vixens (0-3) first goal of the day with 1:30 left in the opening period. Lawson's second goal came via a free position opportunity with 16:37 left in the second period, to take the score to 16-2.

A free position opportunity at 11:32 gave junior Kierstan Mullins (Richmond, Va.) her fourth goal of the season.

Sweet Briar's final goal of the day came with 2:44 left in regulation as Lawson netted the final goal of the game for either team, leaving the final score at 19-4.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sammy Holton (Arbutus, Md.) recorded 14 saves and snagged seven ground balls, while also forcing four turnovers. Lawson led Sweet Briar with two draw controls on the day.

Dana Florian scored a game-high five goals for the Pacers.

Sweet Briar continues its two-game road trip on Saturday, March 2, with a 1 p.m. visit to Guilford.
