Phister posts career low; Sweet Briar fourth at Randolph-Macon

HENRICO, Va. — Junior Meagan Phister posted her career-best round on Thursday's Randolph-Macon College Fall Invitational at Belmont Golf Course.

First-year Annika Kuleba (Endy, N.C.) was the Vixens' lowest scorer on Thursday, finishing tied for 12th in the 22-player field with Bailee Wright of Southern Virginia after carding a 94 (+21) on the par 73 track.

Phister (Moneta, Va.) was the next Sweet Briar golfer on the leaderboard in 18th with a career-best 113 (+40). Phister's previous low came in the second round of the Greene Turtle Invitational, where she shot a 115.

Sophomore Kendall Nicely (Glen Allen, Va.) finished 20th at 131 (+58), while first-year Grace Sizemore (Lynchburg, Va.) was 22nd with a 18-hole score of 149 (+76).

Liza Lewis of Randolph-Macon was the individual medalist with a 79 (+6). 

The Vixens finished fourth in the team standings with a 487 (+195), while Bridgewater took the team title with a 347 (+55).

The Randolph-Macon College Fall Invitational marked the end of the fall season for Sweet Briar. The Vixens will return to the links in the spring of 2019.
