Schlosberg honored as Vixens meet No. 6 Horned Frogs

SWEET BRIAR, Va. — Sweet Briar College honored senior rider Emily Schlosberg on Friday morning, as the Vixens' NCEA team celebrated senior day before a meet with the No. 6 TCU Horned Frogs.

The Vixens picked up a point in both equitation over fences and equitation on the flat, but were defeated 8-2 overall by the visiting Horned Frogs.

Friday's meet got started over fences, where sophomore Lily Peterson (Ashland, Va.) rode Dimitri to 76 points, earning the Vixens' lone point in the event as she topped Grace Upshaw 76-73.

First-year Britt Larson-Jackson (Washington, D.C.) earned 71 points on Aate, while sophomore Katie Balding (Williamsburg, Va.) tallied 68 on Ray.

Schlosberg (Fairfax, Va.) scored 78 points on Teddy and first-year Charlotte Hadley (Tiverton, R.I.) rounded out the Vixens' lineup over fences with 77 points on Dorado. Schlosberg and Hadley were both within four points of their TCU foe.

Peterson's win over fences was her third of the season on the event and raised her team-high adjusted NRS to 76.17.

On the flat, Peterson picked up 63 points on Dance and Schlosberg scored 49 on Mulligan. Balding earned 57 on Emmett and first-year Maggie Fraley (White Haven, Pa.) picked up 54 points on Jackson, while Hadley won the Vixens' lone point on the flat with a 61-52 win on Luciano.

Hadley's victory over Jacey Albaugh on the flat was her second victory in the event this season and gives her the top adjusted NRS on the season for the Vixens on the flat, at 70.75.

TCU's Alex Beneson earned Most Outstanding Performer over fences, while Janelle Henningsen earned the nod on the flat. 

Schlosberg, was recognized before Friday's meet as the Vixens' lone senior. Schlosberg has earned ODAC Rider of the Year, Rookie of the Year and All-ODAC honors throughout her career, while also picking up academic honors from the NCEA, Farnam NCEA, American Paint Horse Association and the ODAC. Schlosberg has two Most Outstanding Performer honors in NCEA meets throughout her career, while holding a nine career victories in NCEA meets combined over fences and on the flat. Schlosberg enters the remainder of the Vixens' schedule with an average career score over fences of 79.33 and 72.17 on the flat.

The Vixens continue the regular season at home on February 15 with a meet against No. 2 Texas A&M.
