WACO, Texas — A trio of Sweet Briar equestrian student-athletes earned a pair of academic honors on Thursday, as senior Emily Schlosberg and sophomores Lily Peterson and Katie Balding were honored as part of the Farnam National Collegiate Equestrian Association All-Academic Team and to the American Paint Horse Association Honor Roll.
Peterson (Ashland, Va.) and Schlosberg (Fairfax, Va.) were both named First Team Farnam NCEA All-Academic, while Balding (Williamsburg, Va.) received a second team nod.
Schlosberg was previously recognized by the NCEA as a second team all-academic in 2018, while Schlosberg, Peterson and Balding all earned all-academic recognition from the United Equestrian Conference earlier this spring. All three Sweet Briar riders were ODAC All-Academic honorees in 2018.
This is the second season that Sweet Briar has seen three or more riders recognized as NCEA All-Academic and as members of the Academic Honor Roll.
First team honorees must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of her school’s meets and have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, while second team recipients must have competed in a minimum of 60 percent of her school’s meets and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
The APHA Academic Honor Roll is presented to student-athletes who have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
