Vixens honor seniors in home finale; Royals come out on top

SWEET BRIAR, Va. — Sophomore goalkeeper Rosemary Austin made 18 saves as the Vixens wrapped up the home slate in 2018, falling to Eastern Mennonite 8-0 at Thayer Field on Monday afternoon.

Prior to Monday's game, Sweet Briar recognized senior midfielder Aoife Magner (North Potomac, Md.) and student-assistant Alison Davis as part of Senior Day festivities.

Monday's game saw the eventual game winner come off the stick of the Royals' (8-9) Skylar Hedgepeth in the first minute of play.

Austin (Commerce Township, Mich.) tallied 18 saves for the Vixens (2-8), while junior Lashlee McCray (Richmond, Va.) made two big defensive saves on the nearpost for Sweet Briar.

Offensively, first-year Emily Myers (Fredericksburg, Va.) led the Vixens with three shots on goal, while fellow first-year Brigitte Gorman (Chesapeake, Va.) placed one shot on frame during Monday's game.

The Vixens wrap-up the 2018 schedule with back-to-back games at Lancaster Bible on Friday and Saturday. The Vixens and Chargers meet first on October 26 at 4 p.m.
