Keystone topples Vixens in neutral site meeting

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Sweet Briar field hockey team wrapped up its trip to Connecticut with a 10-0 neutral site loss to the Keystone Giants at Celentano Field on Sunday morning.

"The team learned how to fight today," said head coach Hannah Lott. "We held our heads high and took it to the attacking end, even when we were down."

Savanna Robinson of Keystone (7-4) scored the first of the Giants' goals and the first of her four goals in the third minute of play. 

The Vixens' (2-6) goalkeepers combined for 14 saves, while first-year Shay Finch (Baltimore, Md.) added a defensive save to the team total.

Sophomore Rosemary Austin (Commerce Township, Mich.) recorded 12 saves in 63 minutes of action, while first-year Janie Bolling (Hereford, Md.) notched two shaves in seven minutes between the posts.

Sweet Briar is next in action on Saturday, October 13, when Hendrix and Sweet Briar meet at 11 a.m. on the turf of Amherst County High School in Amherst, Va.
