Austin stops 18, Falcons top Vixens

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Sweet Briar sophomore Rosemary Austin recorded 18 saves on the afternoon as the Vixens opened the Wilson College Invitational with a 5-0 loss to the Falcons of Concordia-Wisconsin.

The Vixens (1-2) surrendered the opening goal of the day in the 28th minute when Rachel Larson assisted on the would-be game winner from Megan McPike.

The Falcons (3-0) would strike for four goals in the second period.

First-year Emily Myers (Fredericksburg, Va.) placed two shots on frame, but saw her efforts turned away by Concordia's Katelyn Fitzgerald.

Austin (Commerce Township, Mich.) recorded 10 second half saves on her way to 18 on the day.

Sweet Briar will matchup with Wilson at 10 a.m. on Sunday, in a rematch of the two sides season opening meeting, which saw the Phoenix leave Sweet Briar with a 7-0 victory. The Phoenix fell 2-1 to Earlham in the second game of the Wilson College Invitational.
