Five named to NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad

GILBERT, Ariz. — The 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad was announced on Wednesday and includes five Vixens, as sophomore Rosemary Austin was joined by first-years Shay Finch, Brigitte Gorman, Maggie Groetsch and Nisha Tarver.

Austin (Commerce Township, Mich.) earns her second-straight nod from Zag Field Hockey and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, having been recognized last season as a first-year.

Finch (Baltimore, Md.), Gorman (Chesapeake, Va.), Groetsch (Asheville, N.C.) and Tarver (Baltimore, Md.) all earned recognition for the first time in their collegiate careers.

With five Vixens included on the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, Sweet Briar has had multiple honorees on the list for seven-straight years.

This year, 1,746 student-athletes from 147 Division III institutions earned recognition on the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.

The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.
