SBC Hockey Wraps Up Busy Week

FERRUM, Va.- The Sweet Briar College field hockey team played its third match in six days with an evening match at Ferrum College. The host Panthers were playing their first match in a week and used fresh legs to their advantage by scoring eight first-half goals on way to a 14-0 victory.

First-year keeper Rosemary Austin had another busy match in goal for the Vixens, as she faced 60 total shots, 32 on goal, and made 18 saves. Austin began the day with most saves per game in Division III field hockey and had made the third-most saves in the nation.

SBC will now take the next week and a half to regroup and train before opening its home campaign with an Oct. 1 first matchup with Wilson College. The match will get underway at Thayer Field at 4 p.m. This Saturday, the field hockey team will be hosting its annual alumnae game as part of the Founders' Day activities. The alumnae friendly is slated to start at 10:30 a.m.
