  • USA Athletes International selects local field hockey player

    Clemmons, NC February 19, 2010: USA Athletes International has selected Sweet Briar College sophomore, Ariel Yoder, as one of 18 field hockey players from the United States to play in the Sunshine Games being held July 11, 2010 – July 18, 2010 in Barbados.
  • Field Hockey Places Two on All-ODAC Team

    The Sweet Briar field hockey team was honored to have two players receiving Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC ) team nods. Sophomore Madeline Wilson (Orange, Va) was voted onto the 2nd Team All-ODAC, while junior teammate Lindsay Eneguess (Peterborough, N.H.) received Honorable Mention.

    Seniors Melissa Carron (Grosse Pointe, MI) and Sara Sheppard (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the way today for the Vixens to collect their second win of the season. Each senior had a goal as the Vixens beat Transylvania 3-1 in the last home game of the season.

    The Vixen field hockey team fought a hard battle against Virginia Wesleyan today at Thayer Field; in the end it would be the Marlins who won with a score of 5-0.

    The Vixen field hockey team fell to Eastern Mennonite today by a score of 13-0. The Royals got on the board 15:44 into the game by an unassisted goal from Alyssa Derstine.

    The Vixen Field Hockey team came out on Friday with a new formation hoping to spread the field and create new options. They were just unable to finish their many attempts around the cage, falling short and losing by a score of 6-2.

    The Sweet Briar Vixens finally added a win to their record today by beating Wilson College 4-2. This is the first win of the season for the Vixens who are now 1-6, in addition to this game being the first collegiate win for head coach Jess Lamina.
