Taylor Voted Vixen of the Month

SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- The Sweet Briar College Athletics Department announces sophomore tennis player Ariel Taylor as October’s Vixen of the Month.

For the second consecutive year, Ariel Taylor ('14/Springfield, Va.) who is ranked #31 in the nation, claimed victory at the #1 singles spot at the fall Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. Taylor garnered the tournament title after posting a comeback win over the ITA Southeast Regional champion and conference foe, Sonja Meighan ('15/McLean, Va.) of Washington and Lee.

The fall ODAC championship was hosted the weekend of October 8 & 9 on the campus of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va.  Taylor, seeded second at the fall tournament, swept through the ODAC quarterfinal round without conceding a game.  In the semi-finals, Taylor’s opponent retired with Taylor leading 6-4, 3-2.  In the championship match, after dropping the opening set 2-6, Taylor regrouped and claimed the next two sets and ODAC championship title by the final score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Vixen soccer player Sierra Palmieri (’12/Ft. Collins, Colo.) received Vixen of the Month honorable mention recognition for October.
