Tennis Picked Third in Conference Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. --- The Sweet Briar College tennis team was picked third in the 2012 preseason poll released Thursday by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference office.  The Vixens welcome newcomers Rachel Byrd (Hartfield, Va./Matthews) and Allie Raifsnider (Concord, N.C./Jay M. Robinson) to the team.  Byrd and Raifsnider gained valuable collegiate experience in the fall and Head Coach Teresa Boylan will look for the first-years to continue improving.

"Each match will be a good competition.  And as always, I look for each player to step up.  We will continue to take each match one at a time.  The ODAC is a tough conference and we don't expect anything less going into spring matches," remarked Boylan. The 2012 spring season and conference play gets underway on February 28 when SBC travels to Lynchburg College.
