Student-Athletes Honored at Annual Awards Banquet
On Friday, May 4, the Sweet Briar athletics department held the annual varsity awards banquet. The event took place in the Fitness and Athletic Center on Sweet Briar’s campus. Upchurch transformed from field house to student-athlete showcase for the end of the year ceremony. The program began with an address by Sweet Briar College president, Jo Ellen Parker.

SBC Hosts Vixen Dash for Special Olympians
The Sweet Briar athletics department hosted a regional Special Olympics Virginia (SOVA) event on Sunday, April 22. Six Student-Athletes Garner Who’s Who in America Distinction
The annual Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges list of honorees has been announced. A total of 26 Sweet Briar students have been named to the 2011-2012 induction class, six of those award winners are student-athletes.

First Tournament Game No Contest for Sweet Briar College
In the opening game of the 2011 Bryn Mawr Tournament, the host Owls easily handled cross-town foe Rosemont College. The Ravens failed to generate much on attack; they tallied only one shot for the entire game. Bryn Mawr peppered Raven net minder Gina Donnelly (’13/Horsham, PA) with 24 shots, 17 of which were on goal. Donnelly ended the day with 14 saves, but the effort was not enough.
