SBC’s Hurt Collects All-Conference Accolade
Sweet Briar lacrosse player Olivia Hurt (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) was recently tabbed to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference second team. On the season Hurt, who plays in the midfield position, ranked third in the ODAC for goals per game (3.56) and sixth in points per game (4.44).

Student-Athletes Honored at Annual Awards Banquet
On Friday, May 4, the Sweet Briar athletics department held the annual varsity awards banquet. The event took place in the Fitness and Athletic Center on Sweet Briar’s campus. Upchurch transformed from field house to student-athlete showcase for the end of the year ceremony. The program began with an address by Sweet Briar College president, Jo Ellen Parker.

Sophomore Scoring Sensation Earns Vixen of the Month

Thirty Years in the Making
On Saturday, April 21, the Vixen Lacrosse team hosts the annual lacrosse alumnae game. The event is slated for a 3 p.m. start on Babcock field. Sweet Briar touts a long and rich lacrosse history – the program’s origin dates back to 1914. This year’s alumnae game marks the 30th meeting of alumnae and current student-athletes.

Vixen Lacrosse traveled to fellow women’s college opponent Hollins University for a mid-week Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday, April 18. Vixen Lacrosse closes out regular season schedule play this week with two contests. On Wednesday, April 18 the team travels to Roanoke for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest with Hollins University. Vixen lacrosse traveled to Bridgewater college on Wednesday afternoon to play the Eagles. The Vixens fought hard in the game coming up with 11 goals, 5 goals in the first half and 6 in the second. Sweet Briar won in ground balls with 18, went 6-7 on clear attempts, but had 12 turnovers in the game.

Ariel Taylor Named March Vixen of the Month
Ariel Taylor was voted March Vixen of the month for her stand out performance on the Tennis Courts. Taylor was undefeated in singles for the season at 11-0 for number 1 singles and 10-1 at number 1 doubles, and led the conference with most singles wins.

Lacrosse Game Postponed due to Lightning
The Vixen lacrosse game was postponed due to the thunderstorm that rolled in during the game on Wednesday afternoon. The Vixens were down 7-6 when the officials called the game. NCAA rules state there must be 48 minutes of the game played in order for it to count.

The Vixen Lacrosse team headed to Disney World to compete during Spring Break. The Team has been gone for 5 days now and seems to be having a great time.
