SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- Lacrosse hosted Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. on Babcock Field.  The contest was the first 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup for both teams.

The visiting Marlins took a three goal lead to start the game, but SBC's Allison Hassard (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) put the Vixens in the scoring column and halted the run (3-1) at 23:06.  VWC and Monica Ewansik (Gibsonia, Penn. / Pine-Richland) traded goals midway through the half to push the score to 5-3 in favor of the guests.

Kimberly Orchowski (Crofton, Md. / Arundel) answered two VWC goals with a pair of Vixen goals to pull Sweet Briar within two, but a late half tally by Natalie Furey gave Virginia Wesleyan a three goal lead at the break.

Orchowski opened second half scoring, but the Marlins scored three unanswered goals and took a five goal advantage (11-6).  Sweet Briar again scored twice unanswered, but VWC responded with a pair of goals to push the score to 13-8 in favor of the Marlins.
