Lacrosse Opens at Home with Meredith

SWEET BRIAR, Va. --- Vixen Lacrosse opened at home against Meredith College on Monday afternoon.  The non-conference contest was held on Babcock Field under sunny skies and extremely windy conditions.

SBC was again lead by first-year midfielder Monica Ewansik (Gibsonia, Penn. / Pine-Richland). Ewansik collected her second hatrick in as many games.  Kimberly Orchowski (Crofton, Md. / Arundel) contributed four assists.   Katie Burnet (Apex, N.C./Apex) spurred the visiting Avenging Angels attack. Burnet tallied eight goals on the game.

Ashton Reid (Concord, Va./Rustburg) recorded ten saves in her goalkeeping debut while Meredith's Meghan Brooks (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) picked up the win with three saves to her credit.

SBC has a week to regroup.  The team next plays on Monday, March 3 at neighboring Southern Virginia University (Buena Vista).  The contest is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
