Sweet Briar Stopped in Salem

SALEM, Va. --- Vixen Lacrosse set out for Salem, Va. looking to climb back in the win column as the team ended its six game away stretch at Roanoke College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Maroons jumped out of the gate and scored the game's first eight goals.  Olivia Hurt (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) and Allison Hassard (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) teamed up for the first SBC score at the 21:12 mark.

RC answered immediately to go ahead 9-1.  Midway through the period, Charlotte Davis (Alexandria, Va./The Field School) converted a free position shot.  The Davis tally capped SBC first half scoring.  The teams entered the half with Sweet Briar behind 14-2.

After intermission, SBC limited Roanoke to five goals but the first half deficit proved to big to fill.  Roanoke upended the Vixens by the score of 19-4.

Caroline Baker (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) recorded 14 saves over 60 minutes of play.  Taylor Klos (Manson, Ohio/Manson) and Kimberly Orchowski (Crofton, Md./Arundel) each netted second half scores in the effort.

SBC returns to campus after a lengthy road swing with a 6-6 record.  On Saturday, April 6 Vixen Lacrosse welcomes league newcomer Shenandoah University to campus for a 2 p.m. contest.  The April 6 contest falls during the NCAA Division III Week celebration.
