The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has released the list of 2011 ODAC/StellarOne Bank Spring Sportsmanship Teams honorees. Three Sweet Briar College student-athletes received sportsmanship honors.

The ODAC Lacrosse coaches voted yesterday on the All ODAC teams, the Vixens nabbed 2 spots on the Honorable Mention squad. Seniors Stewart Hulfish and DJ Abernathy each placed as midfielders.

Lacrosse at Roanoke
The Vixen lacrosse team traveled to Roanoke College on Monday night to play under the lights. The Vixens scored seven goals total, five in the first half and two in the second. Sophomore Sam Schwartz and senior Stewart Hulfish each had two goals. Rounding out the scoring effort was Sarah Winstead, DJ Abernathy, and Brittany Fox who each had a goal.

Vixens head to Lynchburg
The Vixen lacrosse team headed to Lynchburg today to take on the Hornets of Lynchburg College. This weekend the Vixens played back to back games, playing Methodist University yesterday and Lynchburg College today.

Vixens win 2 in a Row
The Vixen lacrosse team hosted Methodist University on Friday afternoon at Babcock Field. Friday was a special day for Sweet Briar for two reasons: 1) it was the sophomore/junior open house; and 2) it was Senior Day. The Vixens honored their four seniors before the game began.

Vixens Beat Hollins
The Vixen lacrosse team took on visiting Hollins University on Wednesday afternoon at Babcock Field. Sam Schwartz led the scoring effort with 5 goals. Other goal contributors included Brittany Fox with 4, Seanne Weekes scored 3, and Sarah Winstead scored 1. Melissa Clough had 4 caused turnovers and 5 ground balls.

Game at Roanoke Postponed
The lacrosse game schedule on April 16 at Roanoke college has been rescheduled due to thunderstorms expected in the area. The game has been rescheduled fro April 25 at 5:00pm.

Vixens fall to Eagles
Vixen lacrosse traveled to Bridgewater college on Wednesday afternoon to play the Eagles. The Vixens fought hard in the game coming up with 11 goals, 5 goals in the first half and 6 in the second. Sweet Briar won in ground balls with 18, went 6-7 on clear attempts, but had 12 turnovers in the game.

The Sweet Briar lacrosse team traveled three and a half hours to Virginia Beach today to face off with the Marlins of VIrginia Wesleyan College. Sophomore Sam Schwartz led the goal scoring for the team.

Link Stands Tall
Vixen lacrosse traveled to Shenandoah University on Wednesday afternoon, the Vixens fought hard as a team but it was first year Megan Link who stood out in goal, Link turned in a 15 save effort and came away with the most ground balls for the Vixens with 5.

On Sunday afternoon the Vixen lacrosse team traveled to N.C. Wesleyan to play against the Battling Bishops, the Vixens walked away with a 10 point win. Leading the scoring effort was sophomore Sam Schwartz with 8 goals, DJ Abernathy with 3 goals, Sarah Winstead with 2 goals, and 3 other VIxens with 1 goal a piece.

The Vixen lacrosse team battled visiting Randolph College on Wednesday afternoon at Babcock field. The Vixens were able to make the best of the opportunities they created and won by a score of 16-2. DJ Abernathy scored 5 goals, while teammates Sarah Winstead and Jessie Edington each netted a hat trick.

The Vixen lacrosse team traveled to Lexington Virginia to take on the Generals of Washington and Lee University on Wednesday afternoon. The weather was a bit cold with spurts of rain, making playing conditions a little less then ideal. The Vixens had 13 ground balls, and had 3 caused turnovers.

Vixens Turn it on in Second Half
The Vixen lacrosse team battled the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon. It was a cold day at the field but the hill was packed with bundled up fans. The Vixens had 19 caused turnovers and 13 ground balls in the effort.

Vixens Compete in Florida
The Vixen Lacrosse team headed to Disney World to compete during Spring Break. The Team has been gone for 5 days now and seems to be having a great time. The weather is warm and sunny, the girls have a 2-day park pass, and they had an instructional session with lacrosse great Casey Powell. They have also competed in two games.

Vixens Cruise to 20-7 win
The Vixen Lacrosse team grabbed their first win of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Babcock Field. The Vixens took on the Gators of College Of Notre Dame Maryland and won 20-7. The Vixens are now 1-0-1 and holding on at 4th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
