Vixens Tabbed 10th in ODAC Softball Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. --- The Vixen Softball team was tabbed tenth in the 2012 preseason poll released Tuesday by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference office. The Vixens return four key players for the 2012 campaign.  Senior catcher and pitcher Christen Campbell (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox) is joined by fellow returners, shortstop Brooke Scott '13 (Houston, Tex./Episcopal), second baseman Amanda Catlett '14 (Spotsylvania, Va./ Spotsylvania), and sophomore utility player Nikki Thompson (Axton, Va./Magna Vista).

Four first years will add depth to this year's Vixen roster.   Newcomers to the program include: outfielder Jess Sheleg (Andover, Vt./ Roxboro Community School), third baseman Janiecia Mitchell (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton), utility player Hollie Halford (Greenville, Ala./Greenville), and first baseman Elizabeth Snyder (Newport News Va./Denbigh).

Coach Delude had this to say about the 2012 team and season. "We are having a great preseason. Our team is working very hard to be ready for the challenging conference schedule.  The ODAC is one of the most competitive Division III conferences for softball.  Last year the seventh ranked team in the conference fought its way into the tournament championship game. There is no doubt that in this league, no one has an easy season or a guaranteed win."
