Baltimore, Md. --- The Sweet Briar College field hockey team pushed past Notre Dame of Maryland University 1-0 on Friday afternoon in Baltimore.
Jessica Heiser (Courtland, Va/Southampton) scored the game winner for the Vixens on a feed from fellow first year Hannah Oybkhan (Wilmington, Del./Caravel Academy) in the first half. Katie Torretti (Lemon Grove, Calif./Bishops School) recorded her first career shutout in goal for Sweet Briar. The shutout was preserved by a stellar defensive save by Eve Mergenthaler (Litchfield, Conn./Litchfield) in the second half.
