Fifth Annual Friends of Athletics Golf Tournament
Congratulations to the team Ewing (pictured left). Made up of Heath Ewing, Michael Cook, Bill Moore, and Eugene Kim. They shot 59 on the course, they edged out team Edahl by one point.
The fifth annual Friends of Athletics Golf Tournament was held at Winton Country Club on Friday May 7th. There were a total of 9 teams in the tournament and a great variety of sponsors including; Lynchburg bus, Jaws Swim Shop, and Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery.
The golfers ranged in age and skill level from students who
still attend Sweet Briar to Parents of Alumni. There were many
familiar faces on the course including Athletic Director Kelly
Morrison, Dean Cheryl Steele, and Old Dominion Athletic Office
representatives J.J. Nekoloff and Mollie Robertson.
Olde Virginia Catering took care of the buffet dinner. When the
golfers were done they were greeted with a feast fit for a
king.
The day wrapped up well with a wide range of scores and many ties,
but the team with the highest score won free golfing and cart
lessons. They shot a 103. There was not a sad face to be found,
lacrosse coach Hillary London did a great job getting the
tournament off the ground and making it an adventure for all
involved.
Thank you to all that donated and participated in the 5th Annual FOA Tournament. It was a great success and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
